Well, it's been 2 months since Mandy set this up for me, and I'm not learning very fast. It has been a wonderfully busy summer. We got to have Katie and Micah early this summer. We went and went and went. They got to ride Spirit, go fishing, go camping, build a campfire and feed the geese, go to see a movie, do crafts at home, read books and all that good stuff. I will post a couple of photos so you can enjoy their visit with us. That is, if I can figure out how to post photos!
Then, we celebrated Amy's birthday a little with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. That was DE-licious and she was her usual charmng little self. Katie and Micah were fascinated that their Aunt Amy has birthdays, too.
We got to celebrate April's birthday with her, but I didn't get her buttermilk pie ready for her in time. We did get to have Micah for a week while Katie went to Bear Paw with Nana and Papa Keith. We went to Blank Park Zoo and Micah enjoyed it so much. He and Papa Paul did lots of bike riding in the gym. He finally got brave enough to come outside and ride on the parking lot of the church building. Then, Paul came up with Transient Global Amnesia. Sounds menacing, huh? Well, it can be, but fortunately for him he did not sustain any permanent injuries. He just has no memory of most of one day while Micah was here. After our hospital decided they could not explain his condition, Paul was sent to Mercy hospital in Des Moines by ambulance. After a 5 day stay they diagnosed him with TGA and sent him home. After Micah left, Paul went to ride his bike and found it and his helmet wrecked. Katie told him not to get back on that bike without his helmet and we agreed. Apparantly he wrecked on his bike, and though he had his helmet on, he got TGA. He has no memory of it, but a neighbor saw him pick up his bike, and his 2 smashed muskmelons and walk home. Josh and April came to get Micah and found the smashed melons in the trash but just thought it was odd. They found 2 good melons on the kitchen table. Best we can figure, Paul went back and got two more. Go figure. The rest of the day he looked at his watch and asked me what day it was about every 10-15 seconds. That does get a little tiring after a few hours, which is why I decided to take him in to the emergency room and let them look at him. He had conversations whether anyone was there or not. It would have been funny if I hadn't been so scared. They first said they thought he had a stroke, or needed a pacemaker. I made him promise not to leave me! So...if you didn't know anyone with amnesia before, you do now!
A week later we went to Midwest Bible Camp and had a really good time, as always. We fiercely missed Johnny and Mandy and Joseph. Josh and Dad directed and did a fantastic job! Keith and Lavonne worked so hard and it was really a delight to have them again.
